🖤 Open Works #010 We built a benchmarking product for People leaders

2 minutes of fuel to ignite your Open Culture journey - shipped every 2 weeks.

Greetings Pioneers!

Welcome to the tenth edition of Open Org’s newsletter and the 53 Progressive People People who joined since last time. If you’re reading this then three things are probably true:

  1. You shudder when someone uses the phrase ‘human capital’

  2. You love open source.

  3. You believe culture is tangible and get pissed off when it’s relegated to the pile of ‘wishy washy’ by dinosaur executives.

👉️ Quick reminder of what’s in the box?

So this is our fortnightly-ish drop of tips, resources, memes, templates and insights from our small but mighty community of amazing People People trailblazing workplace transparency in the pursuit of a less opaque, less busted world of work.

It seems obvious and simple when we talk about it, but the problem I see time and time again, organizations think that they just need to be the most generally attractive to the whole entire talent audience.

Let’s go.

🎁 Free shit to make your life easier:

We gone and built a benchmarking product! 😅

We’re officially launching peoplemetrics.fyi into beta right now. First 250 folks to add their metrics and unlock 5 benchmark charts get year 1 access on us, absolutely free.

For months now we've heard things like...

👉 "I need a way to justify budget for more headcount in my people team"
👉 "Which metrics should I be tracking"
👉 "How do I know if we're doing well?"
👉 "How can I use metrics & data to better influence leadership and story-tell?"
👉 "Is there anywhere I can compare our metrics to other companies?"

...so we built a people metrics benchmarking product called…peoplemetrics…perhaps not our most creative name but ‘it does what it says on the tin’ and well, you must know we’re kinda about that by now! 😉

🔥 Introducing peoplemetrics.fyi [beta]

People leaders who use data, context and story-telling be like…

As usual this is a work in progress. Feedback, feature requests, bugs + riffs welcome. Hit reply!

Peace ✌️

📖 OpenOrg #Build in Public

🎉Adam welcomed his new arrival (baby #3 the epic Finn Ezra) into the Open Org family over xmas. Mum and baby doing really well, and seeing as Finn arrived over the xmas break, I wasn’t left in charge long enough to break much. Phew! 😅

In other news we’re running about 10 programmes this year which we’re stoked about:

OOC - Our signature cohort for People Leaders

OOF - Open Org for fractional consultants

OOB - Open Org Bootcamp - kicking off this week!!

Can’t wait to welcome everyone to the community🥰

💡 Tangible Transparency Tip

When writing job ads or updating your careers site…be open and honest about who will thrive in your business.

🖐️ Stop: trying to attract everyone.

👉️ Start: sharing what you’ve learned through hiring and mis-hiring.

It saves everyone time and builds trust in your employer brand, improves your candidate experience and quality of hire.

Example: plain.com’s job ads featured in the ✔️ Open Job Ad template

Attract and Repel the right talent.

📚️ Interesting Internet
